Ferocactus Pilosus, or "Mexican Fire Barrel" is a Fiery Red and Orange Spined Clumping barrel cactus, up to 8 feet tall (2.4 m) from Central Mexico (Nuevo Leon). Ferocactus Pilosus, or "Mexican Fire Barrel" is an easy cactus to grow and maintain - it requires little to moderate water when established. Flowers are a very fiery yellow to red. Protect from frost. Recommended Temperature Zone: USDA: 9b-11. Frost Tolerance: Hardy to 25°F (-4°C). Minimum Avg. Temperature: 50°F (10°C). This is a really nice barrel cactus that measures 7 inches across. It remains globular for a long time, but will eventually grow taller than wide. Its got very red spines.
