Copiapoa contains over 20 species coming from the Atacama desert, on the coastline of northern Chile. The name Copiapoa comes from the city of Copiapó in the same area. These cactus have adapted to meeting their water need from the fog that often blanket the coast, rather than rain. We've have that they prefer a milder climate, rather than the heat of the desert. They look best when kept under 100 degrees F. Plant in fast draining soil and water sparingly. You are selecting the plant pictured.
