Jatropha berlandieri This is an excellent caudex forming succulent from South Texas and Mexico. As it grows older, it forms really fat, softball like tubers that that can be raised for affect. When Jatropha berlandieriis active in the summer months it puts out numerous thin stems topped with leaves that look like parsley. Then about mid-summer bountiful red flowers appear. It goes dormant in the fall when all the leaves and stems dry up and only the dry bulb remains. It remain dormant through the winter, and watering should be kept to a minimum during this period. |

Jatropha podagrica This Guatamala native, nicked named the Bottle Plant, has a beautifully textured trunk with a big coconut right in the middle. It has large green non-succulent leaves and red flowers during it's active season. |
