Zygosicyos Category Page Zygosicyos, pronounced "zigo - sick - kee - ose", is very easy to grow, is not often seen in the trade, and has a greatly charactered shell. Zygosicyos tripartitus has made its way to the top of our most favorite caudiform plants to grow because it is so easy to care for. Being unfamiliar with the species, our first specimen was left in an uncooled greenhouse, without water, through a Las Vegas summer. That's 150 days of 100+ degree F. temperatures. We just kept an eye on the small plum of green foliage coming from the top middle. As long as it didn't dry out, we figured the plant was doing okay. We're always fearful of overwatering caudiciforms, because most are very prone to rot. However, this one kept going and going without water. The caudex did become very deflated, however. When we finally did give it some water more green foliage came out and the caudex swelled like balloon. Although expensive, we'd recommend Zygosicyos for beginners. It's idiot proof.
